Watch Review: 2016 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer
Compared to the 2015 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer, not much has changed with the 2016 model, even the reference number remains the same. But there are a few details that have changed, and the updates have made quite a few Rolex connoisseurs happy.
What’s stayed the same?

What’s different?
The two primary differences can be found with the hands and the dial. The 2016 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer includes a longer minute hand than previous versions. This update came in response to the overwhelming number of watch collectors that complained about the 2015 version’s short hands. Now, the minute hand reaches almost entirely to the bezel whereas before there was a significant gap.
The second update is the new luminescent material used for the Arabic numerals, the hour markers, and the hands. Glowing bright blue, Rolex’s Chromalite lume ensures optimum legibility in low light or no light at all.
All-in-all this Rolex Explorer is a great way to delve into Rolex sport watches, and with a list price of 5300 USD, it’s on the lower end for a luxury watch.
